Tips for Individual or Virtual Walkers

  • Make a list of people to sponsor you. Begin with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, business colleagues.  Think of people you know from schools, church, synagogue, temple, the gym, clubs, car pool, and don’t forget people you know at the stores you shop in --- the list is endless!

  • Start a Personal Web Page in the Participant Center. Upload your address book, send emails, post pictures and watch the contributions grow.

  • Ask your employer for help through a matching gift program that will double your contributions!

  • Every day, tell someone new about the Walk for St. Mary’s Kids and ask that person to sponsor you.

  • Thank each person who makes a contribution.

  • Find creative ways to help raise funds - Hold a bake sale, a garage sale, or ask friends for a donation in lieu of a birthday gift.

  • In the last two weeks send updates to your friends. You can include Walk news, your progress so far, etc. Talk it up, and remember it’s about raising funds for the kids and having fun on Walk day!

  • Share your “Why We Walk” story with St. Mary’s Communications team and we’ll send it to your local hometown newspapers to generate publicity. Send it to j.kunz@stmaryskids.org.
